Struggles with Gender Dysphoria
Logan recalls dealing with severe gender dysphoria from a young age. He would wear boyish clothes to hide his body, only to feel embarrassed. âIt was tough going through that without anyone to talk to,â Logan explains. At 13, he came out as a lesbian, believing it aligned with how he dressed as a âtomboy.â However, it wasnât until later that Logan realized the distinction between gender identity and sexuality. Through years of therapy and self-reflection, he finally understood that his struggles stemmed from being transgender.
Prior to his transition, Logan had been in relationships with women, but he ultimately focused on his own mental health and well-being.
Meeting His Partner, Bailey Mills
Bailey Mills, a non-binary drag queen from London, became Loganâs partner after the two met online. Logan was drawn to Baileyâs vulnerability in their videos and quickly reached out. âWe went on a chaotic first date, and Iâve been obsessed with them ever since,â Logan shares.
Their relationship grew stronger, and two years later, they faced an unexpected turnâLoganâs pregnancy.
Discovering the Pregnancy
One morning, Logan woke up feeling strange and decided to take a pregnancy test. After stopping testosterone due to health issues, he was shocked when the test came back positive. Initially, Logan felt terrified and conflicted about being a pregnant man, questioning how it would impact his life and career. âWe didnât talk for two hours after I told Bailey,â Logan recalls.
However, as time passed, Logan grew more comfortable with his pregnancy. He realized this was a rare opportunity for him and Bailey to have a biological child together. âI had to accept who I was as a pregnant man,â Logan explains. âWeâre fortunate to have this experience, and Iâm proud of it.â
Facing Hospital Challenges
Loganâs experience with the healthcare system wasnât without its challenges. While early appointments at smaller clinics were positive, his experience at a larger hospital left him feeling misgendered and overlooked. Logan believes hospital staff need better LGBTQ+ education to handle situations like his. âIâm a pregnant trans man, and I exist. Healthcare workers need to be aware of people like me,â he emphasizes.
Becoming a Father
After a complicated labor that involved being induced for three days due to the babyâs growth issues, Logan gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Despite some initial complications and infections, Logan and Bailey were supported by the midwives and hospital staff. Reflecting on the experience, Logan feels blessed and proud. âI look at her and think, âWow, youâre truly precious,ââ he says.
Loganâs story is rare but not unique. As more transgender men experience pregnancy, his journey highlights the importance of acceptance and education in healthcare.
